Flexible cystoscopy

Flexible cystoscopy allows to determine with great accuracy the causes of hematuria. During the examination, the doctor assesses the condition of the urethra, bladder neck and bladder walls, prostate in men and any pathologies occurring in them.

Essential examination in urological diagnostics

There is no need for any extra preparations for cystoscopic examination. The only additional recommendation is to urinate directly before the procedure. The doctor will certainly start a conversation with the patient from an accurate interview, so it is worth to remember the history of your illness, medications, etc.

Flexible cystoscopy consists of inspection of the inside of the bladder, urethra and the urine itself. It is carried out by a doctor assisted by a nurse.   1. Details of painless cystoscopy - Flexible cystoscopy usually lasts no more than a dozen minutes. It starts with disinfection of the urethral meatus. Then an appropriate gel and cystoscope are inserted. After that the urethra and bladder are filled with liquid (eg saline), and the doctor can have a closer look at the urethra and bladder
  2. Is cystoscopy really painless? - Much depends on the method used and the type of anesthesia. In the worst case, you experience discomfort and burning. 
  3. How much does cystoscopy cost? - The price and the course of the examination depend on whether we use modern and less painful or more traditional methods.
